8:21PM - RIP Ruthie

Alright, short and sweet today...

My grandmother, Ruth, passed away today, shortly after noon. This has been a long time coming, despite the fact that she was making progress in recent months. She's had a rough few years, and has been an admirable trooper through it all. I know she's in a better place now, but I'm going to miss the sweetest little woman I ever knew. She was always willing to hop up and lend a hand to anyone she met, even if her body was no longer built for the stress. I'll always remember her for that, and hope that I can embrace that attitude and pass it along to my niece, nephew, and any children I may have one day. It's a characteristic that's sadly lacking today. I love you, Ruthie, and I look forward to meeting up with you again one day.

9:41AM - God Bless Tech Support

Alright, I know I haven't posted in a while, I need to set up a reminder to post here more often (especially prior to shows on Sunday)... but for the last week it's been due to my internet connection going wonky.

The story is, I was a bad bad boy and forgot to pay the cable bill... for a couple of months. So I'm alarmed as I turn on the computer and can't access the internet, then check the TV to find that's out too. Light bulb goes off, and I curse a streak so long, a sailor would have to take a cold shower to calm down.

I resolved the initial situation ASAP, heading to the local office (thank god we even have one, unlike my telephone company... I'm f*cked if that bill goes unpaid) and got everything turned back on. Or at least that's what was supposed to happen. I got home after work to find out that my TV was back on, but my internet was still acting up. So I've spent the last week playing around with the settings on my desktop to make it work. Stupid thing even got last weeks SBS cancelled! THAT pissed me off, and I didn't stand for it after that.

At my earliest opportunity (I.E. when I wasn't working all freakin' day) I called up tech support, recited commands lovingly into the phone to a computer for 15 minutes before actually talking to a service agent. Another 15 minutes and I was back in business, ready to open up a can of verbal whupass this next Sunday to make up for missing this last week.

9:08PM - A Sunday Double-Shot

Yo yo yo, the chump is here! Checking back in and finally updating the LJ... to plug my show! What else would I remember this thing for? I'm letting everyone who's signed up for this journal, that I'm presenting a special two-for Sunday, July 2... Anyone who hasn't had a chance to check out Sunday Bloody Sunday, now is your chance to experience it big time.

Last week, I had a very special interview with PFC Andrew Boeckman, my cousin and a solder serving in Iraq. On recommendation from my producer, I'm going to be replaying the interview immediately following this weeks live edition of SBS.
